Anna E. Holland, 78, of 6691 Nelson Road, Sinclairville, died Monday (Jan. 20, 2014) in UPMC Hamot in Erie.
She was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Jamestown, the daughter of Johan Alvar and Emmy G. Nelson Lilja. She was a graduate of Southwestern Central High School and the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing.
In earlier years she had been employed as a registered nurse at Buffalo General Hospital, and later worked at the former Jamestown General Hospital and at Heritage Village. She was currently employed by Willcare.
She was a member of the Salvation Army, where she had been active with the Senior Citizens group, the String Band and the Lucia Festival. She also played the piano when called upon to do so.
Very proud of her Swedish heritage and very family oriented, she enjoyed helping all of her family members. She loved traveling, driving, reading and enjoyed knitting and sewing. She especially loved Walt Disney World, and her dogs and cats.
Surviving are four children: Roy M. (Vickie) Holland and John T. Holland, both of Sinclairville, Ingrid A. Bulger of Antioch, Calif., and Holly H. (Denny) Eckstrom of Lottsville, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Holland, who died in January of 1981.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Salvation Army. Major Richard Best will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
