GOWANDA, N.Y. Richard N. Anckner, 83, of Route 353 passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at Absolut Care of West-field.
He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Gowanda, N.Y., the son of the late Nicholas and Jesse Anckner.
Mr. Anckner was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1952-54.
He was the head of security at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for many years. He also drove bus for Carrier Coach in Gowanda, N.Y., and was an active member in the East Leon Wesleyan Church for more than 50 years and a member of the Gowanda Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5007.
Mr. Anckner is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Anckner; three daughters: Joni (Charles) Pannhorst of Port Charlotte, Fla., Cynthia French of Mansfield, N.Y., and Chris-tine Anckner of Boston, Mass.; six grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Jean) Anckner of Gowanda, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Dick Utley of Gowanda, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to the East Leon Wesleyan Church.
