EDEN - The STAR swim team competed at the 2014 Niagara Regional Championships at Eden High School last Saturday and Sunday.
Mathew Brockelbank took three third-place finishes in the U-12 boys heats with a 1:52.48 in the 100 butterfly, a 3:29.04 in the 200 individual medley and posted a 46.29 in the 50 butterfly.
Anna Jones took third place in the girls U-10 50 butterfly with a 44.36 while Jillian Lawton swam two BB times in the 500 freestyle (5:57.6) and the 200 butterfly (2:39.49). Katie Lawton recorded a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:42.35) in the girls 15-under division.
In boys 11-under action, Nathan McDonald produced two second-place finishes with a 1:33.19 in the 100 individual medley and a 2:55.03 in the 200 freestyle.
Eston Shedd posted a time of 39.53 in the 50 backstroke for a second-place finish in the 12-under boys division, a 3:22.75 in the 200 individual medley for second place and also was second with a 1:21.90 in the 100 freestyle.
In the 9-under boys division, Teagan Shedd posted two B times, a 46.09 in the 50 backstroke and a 1:49.83 in the 100 breaststroke.
Competing in the 11-under boys divisions, Cooper Thomas collected a pair of second-place finishes, posting a time of 38.65 in the 50 backstroke and the 100 freestyle (1:18.85).
Also in the 9-under boys, Brooks Turcotte put up two third-place finishes, starting with the 50 backstroke (48.49), and the 100 freestyle (1:34.13).
In the 9-under girls, Lily Uebbing dropped eight seconds in the 100 butterfly (2:06.64).
