Ronney L. Swan, 74, of 8653 Sherman Findley Lake Road, Sherman, passed away Jan. 8, 2014, at his home.
He was born July 4, 1939, in Erie, Pa., the son of the late Louis and Loretta Lord Swan.
Ronney was a master craftsman, having owned Chautauqua Millworks, in Jamestown, N.Y., and was quite wellknown in the area for his architectural millwork and worked at several furniture factories in Jamestown. He was always a farmer at heart. He enjoyed working on the farm, bailing hay, plowing, and general field work. Ronney was known for his good sense of humor. He loved Great Danes, and will be sadly missed by Dora, his Great Dane.
Ronney is survived by his wife, Jackie Swan, of Sherman, who he was married to for 30 years; daughters: Rhonda Nickerson and Terri Gabriel, both of Sherman, N.Y.; son, Steven (Annette) Swan, of Sherman, N.Y.; stepson, Steven (Danielle) Keith, of Sherman, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Kristen Keith of Fredonia, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; a brother, Larry (Barb) Swan, of Jamestown, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Arisman.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 11, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Sherman, with the Rev. Paul Sears, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 58 p.m. Friday at the Spitzer Funeral Home, 135 Miller St., Sherman, N.Y.
