Margaret Campion Dougherty Cunning, 80, of Roswell, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, with her family by her side.
"Peggy" was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Mount Vernon, N.Y. She grew up in New Rochelle, N.Y., and attended school in nearby Mount Vernon.
She married Frank Cunning in 1955, and they had four children and one step-daughter. Peggy resided in Bemus Point for 13 years before moving to the Atlanta area in the late 1970s.Peggy was a kind, compassionate person whose greatest pleasure, besides raising her children, was helping and caring for other people. She received her registered nursing degree from Jamestown Community College, while raising her four children. She worked at Westfield Memorial Hospital and also at other health care facilities in Chautauqua County.

After moving to the Atlanta area she continued her nursing career for many years.
Peggy was also an avid bridge player and loved meeting weekly with her friends from the bridge club.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Frank Cunning; her daughters: Kathleen Scodeller (Terry) of Woodinville, Wash., Nancy Turner (Curtis) of Marietta, Ga., Christine Carlson (Robert) of LaGrange, Ga.; son, Thomas Cunning (Violeta) of Woodstock, Ga.; and stepdaughter, Frances Cunning of Fort Collins, Colo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and a sister, Rosamond Welch of Roswell.
Memorial services for Peggy will be held at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Ga., on Jan. 11 at 2 p.m.
