Virginia R. Schruis Foster Lang, of Jamestown, N. Y., passed away Dec. 31, 2013, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa., following complications from surgery.
Virginia was one of the triplet daughters born to Ben and Bernice Westcott Schruis on Jan. 30, 1937, at the family home in North Clymer, N.Y.
After graduating from Panama Central High School in 1954, she married Richard Foster of the U.S. Air Force, and resided most of their married life in Spanaway, Washington.
She enjoyed owning and operating a wedding boutique that specialized in dresses, tuxedo rentals, floral arranging and cake decorating.
Surviving Virginia is her sister, Velma Nagle of Ashville, N.Y.; four natural children: Diane Walley of Puyallup, Wash., Kendall Foster of Cherryvale, Kan., Karen Taylor of Bonny Lake, Wash., and Daniel Foster of Overland Park, Kan.; and seven stepchildren: James Lang, John Lang, Jean Born, Carol Merkel, Dorothy Abernathy, Betty Hans, Ella Serfes, all from Washington; along with many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren; and her loving companion dog, Candy.
Preceding Virginia in death is her sister, Vera Schruis; son, Duane Foster born July 1957, and passed March 1959; her first husband, Richard E. Foster, whom she married April 1956, and who died April 1977; her second husband, John Lang, whom she married October 1983, and who died June 2008; and a brother, Frank Schruis who passed in 2005.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Jan. 10, 2014, at the Spitzer Funeral Home, 135 Miller St., Sherman, N.Y. Burial will be in Clymer Center Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
