Norman A. Miller, 82, formerly of Memory Gardens and Rochester, N.Y., passed away Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2014), in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Theodore and Geraldine Colton Miller.
Norman was a graduate of West High School, Rochester, and was senior class president. After graduation from West High School, Norman had work for various construction companies. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served from 195154. Norman served in the U.S. Navy Band and was an accomplished musician. He was naturally gifted at playing numerous musical instruments.
Norman became a member of the Tanglewood Manor Family in 1989 and was one of the first residents in Memory Gardens in 2003. He was loved by many residents and staff of the Tanglewood and Memory Garden Family. He enjoyed participating in many activities while he was a resident their and enjoyed playing the violin and piano.
He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Miller Schwab and brotherinlaw, James B. Schwab, both of Gerry; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria McGlynn; and a nephew, Gary Schwab.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, chaplain of Hospice of Chautauqua County, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rochester, N.Y.
The family will received friends one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday in the funeral home.
