Jon K. Nordine, 65, of 232 Chautauqua Ave., died at 7:24 p.m. Monday (Dec. 30, 2013), in WCA Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1948, in Jamestown, the son of Kenneth A. and Stella M. Johnson Nordine.
A 1966 graduate of Jamestown High School, he was also a 1970 graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.
Prior to retiring in 2008, he had been employed for 22 years in the quality assurance department at Busch Industries. In earlier years he had worked at WCA Hospital, and at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
He was a member of the Ingjald Lodge 65, Independent Order of Vikings, the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, and was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and collecting antique bronze figures. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel M. Baker Nordine, whom he married Oct. 6, 1973, in Syracuse; two sons: Charles G. (Devon) Nordine of Harrisburg, Pa., and Peter A. Nordine of Trussville, Ala.; two grandsons: Parker J. and Mason A. Nordine, both of Harrisburg, Pa.; and a sister, Linda N. (Timothy) Pearson of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died Sept. 15, 1993; and by his mother, who died Jan. 11, 2004.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
