Robert G. Wilhelm, 86, of Maple Street, Jamestown, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 25, 2013), in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Jamestown, N.Y.
Bob was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Randolph, N.Y., the son of the late, Walter J. and Mary Hazard Wilhelm. He was a graduate of Randolph Central School class of 1944.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. Following the war, Bob flew for the Civil Air Patrol, attended the Northrup Aeronautical Institute in Hawthorne, Calif., and the Shelby School of Aeronautics in Memphis, Tenn. Prior to his retirement in 1982, Bob was employed for 31 years by MRC-TRW in Jamestown as a purchasing agent and later as supervisor.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, 68-year charter member of the Randolph American Legion Post 181 and second-to-the-last survivor of the Last Mans Club, of which only Bill Honey survives. He was an exempt fireman and member of the Randolph Fire Company, Jamestown War Vets Recreation Club, Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, Celoron Moose Lodge, and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, where he had also worked in his retirement.
Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with his family.
Mr. Wilhelm is survived by five children: Robert M. Wilhelm and wife, Marcia of Naples, Fla., W. Jeffrey Wilhelm and wife, Debbie of Jamestown, Kathleen Joy Johnson and husband, Gary of Frewsburg, Marcia F. Hodge and husband, Don of Corry, Pa. and Joletta M. Brown and husband, Ron of Jamestown: 10 grandchildren: Shelby Weingard, Aaron Brown, Andrea Brown, Melissa Johnson, Donette (Aaron) Porter, Lindsey (Chris) Wilhelm, Taylor (John) Moots, Alex (Natalie) Wilhelm, Erick Wilhelm, Lauren Wilhelm; and six great-grandchildren. Also left behind is his beloved cat, Charlie Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lois Hudson Wilhelm, whom he married June 18, 1951, in Stillwater, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph A. Wilhelm; and two grandsons: Christopher C. Carlson in 1970 and Chad M. Wilhelm in 1993.
At Bob's request visitation will not observed. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the East Randolph Cemetery and will be announced later.
