Johnson Receives Plaque In Honor Of Birthday

Rick Weilacher and William Johnson are pictured. Weilacher, president of the Local 338, presented Johnson with a plaque in honor of his 100th birthday and to recognize his membership in the Local 338 for 74 years. Johnson also received a birthday card from President Barack Obama. Johnson was employed with SKF Bearings for 40 years, starting with the company when it was called Gurneys. He was born in Andover, Ohio, on Dec. 25, 1913. The family moved to Dorset, Ohio, where he grew up. In 1937 Johnson came to Jamestown, where he has lived for the past 74 years. Johnson's family will host an open house to celebrate his 100th birthday at his home, located at 10 W. 18th St. on Friday from 3-7 p.m. For more information, call Diana Scott at 640-6035.
