CLYMER - A local contest aims to brighten up your holiday season.
The Clymer Area Business Association is sponsoring the inaugural "Light Up Clymer" contest, where participating homes have been decorated with Christmas lights, and area residents are invited to drive around and vote for the best light display.
Maps provided by the business association list the participating houses, numbered 1-15 for voting purposes, as well as a suggested route to see each house in order.

Maps and ballot boxes can be found at participating local businesses: Great Lakes Insurance, Z&M Ag. and Turf, Dutch Village Restaurant, Neckers Company General Store, French Creek General Store, Jim Turner Sales, Bush Septic Service and Aire-Serv Heating & Cooling.
To vote, simply write down the numbers of your three favorite homes and place your votes into a ballot box at a participating local business.
The business association encourages community members to participate in the contest by posting pictures of the contest on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ClymerAreaBusinesses. Maps can also be printed from the page and each "like" on a house's photo counts as a vote.
The contest will conclude on Jan. 1, with first prize winning $150, second prize winning $100 and third prize winning $50, in the form of local business gift certificates. All participants listed on the map will receive $10 thank-you gift certificates.
