In the first game of Friday night's United Way Tip-Off Tournament the Frewsburg Lady Bears (2-1) prevailed over Olean (0-4), 42-38, thanks to another great performance from senior captain Emily Hair.

Hair ran the floor at McElrath Gymnasium masterfully throughout all four quarters, and led Frewsburg with 21 points while shooting 4-of-5 from the charity stripe and dishing out six assists.
Now the Lady Bears will face the Jamestown Lady Red Raiders at 7:30 tonight for the tournament championship. Olean will take on Chautauqua Lake in the consolation game at 6 p.m.
Athletic center Courtney Martin was the bright spot for Olean on both ends of the floor. She ended the night with a double-double that included 15 points on seven field goals as well as 10 boards and five blocks.
The Lady Huskies could have used some of Hair's backcourt experience on Friday, as they struggled to move the ball out of their own end throughout much of the night.
"We just don't have any real experience at that position," Olean coach Randy Samuelson said. "We are a young team, and you saw how that hurt us tonight."
Without a floor general to help move the ball, the Lady Huskies had a rough time dealing with an early press from Frewsburg.
A steal by Megan Davis and two easy baskets by Hair helped the Lady Bears get out to a 13-10 lead in the opening quarter, but Martin presented a matchup problem early on in the paint.
"We should be better at guarding big post players than we were tonight," Frewsburg coach Jeff Collver. "But we've got some film and now we know what we need to work on."
Martin finished the first period with seven points and two swats down low, but did not have much help from her teammates. The Lady Huskies' only other offense in the opening eight minutes came from a lone trey by Ky Andreano.

The second quarter offered some relief on offense for Martin.
Mackenzie Yanetsko found a basket from long range and Andreano added another trey along with an important block.
Defensively, Destiney Portlow helped the Lady Huskies with several key rebounds, as well as adding two free-throws.
While Olean found its rhythm in the second period, Frewsburg countered with more scoring of its own on deep shots from Mackenzie Swartzman and Kaitlyn Blanchard. At halftime the Lady Bears held a 23-19 lead.
In the final 16 minutes, Olean was more effective at moving the ball up the court, but Frewsburg changed up its defense.
"We threw a couple different kinds of presses at them, but they handled it well," noted Collver. ''So we kind of backed off a bit later in the game, but the girls adjusted well."
A layup by Martin early in the third quarter capped off a short comeback for the Lady Huskies that tied the game at 25, but that was as close as Olean would get.
Hair responded quickly with two nifty passes inside for layups and added her own baseline jumper that gave Frewsburg back the lead. After helping her team go up by five, Hair then added a three-point play for good measure after being fouled on a lay-in.
Martin did all she could to right the ship for Olean in the game's final quarter, converting on a three-point play of her own and adding another easy bucket.
Two contested travel calls and a turnover spelled the end for the Lady Huskies in the closing minute. Emilee Johnson made three clutch free-throws to help end the game.
"Jamestown's style is tough," Collver said as he looked ahead to tonight's title game. "We'll have to use all our players and, hopefully, we'll give the fans a great championship game."
