STEAMBURG - William R. Glose, 72, of Young's Road, Steamburg, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, in Olean General Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1941, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of the late Robert and Marjorie Schlehr Glose.
He was a graduate of Bishop Fallon High School in Buffalo and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Glose proudly served from Oct. 7, 1958, to Oct. 5, 1962, with a rank of corporal and was honorably discharged.
Glose was previously employed by Pepper & Crandall Real Estate in Olean, N.Y. where he worked as a sales agent. In earlier years he worked for Bell Aircraft, Birge Wallpaper and Twin Fair in Buffalo.
He was a Communicant of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Randolph, N.Y. and was a member of the Randolph American Legion Post 181.
He thoroughly enjoyed gardening, theatre, the performing arts, fishing and canoeing.
He is survived by a son, John Michael Glose (Polina Strauss) of Lancaster, N.Y., and sister, Mary Kellum, and husband, Tom, of Summerfield, Fla.
William was preceded by his wife Mary Ann Burkhardt on May 13, 2008.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 19, 2013) in the chapel of Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore, N.Y. Monsignor Leon Neu will be the celebrant. Inurnment will follow the service. Visitation will be no observed, as per his wishes.
