A new trophy will be awarded this year for Crowd Favorite. Spectators are asked to visit the JRC Facebook page to vote for their favorite unit out of four pre-selected units who participate in the parade. Nominees include Allied Fire Protection with Local 669, Infinity Visual & Performing Arts, Babes of Wrath Roller Derby, or Bemus Point United Methodist Church.
"We wanted to find a way for the crowd to participate in selecting the best units in the parade so we created a new trophy category - Crowd Favorite," said Tiffani Conti, Jamestown Renaissance Corp. event and programming associate. "We encourage everyone to visit the Facebook page and participate in selecting this category winner."
Each winner will receive a commemorative parade trophy. Winners can pick up their trophy at the Jamestown Renaissance Corp. offices, 119-121 W. Third St., Jamestown, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Trophies are sponsored in part by Albro Advertising, Allied Fire Protection & Local Union 669, Artone, Barber Trucking, Care Givers, Casella Waste Services of Jamestown, Chautauqua Lake Twin Tier, Dependable Tow and Recovery, Elements Salon & Spa, H&R Block, Harley Davidson of Jamestown, Hector's Powersports, Jamestown Business College, Jamestown Community College Student Senate, Jamestown Ice and Storage, LC Marketing & Friends, Learning Disabilities Association of WNY, Lisa P's Kreative T's and More, Lynn Development Group, Painting Unlimited of Jamestown, Inc., Pepsi Beverage Company, and Reid's Powersports.
"We would like to thank everyone that is involved with executing the parade including the staff, volunteers, parade participants, city officials and workers, downtown businesses and the thousands of spectators that come down to enjoy it," Conti said. "The quality of every unit was exceptional and by far the best we have ever had. This event is truly a community event and each year it shows just how wonderful Jamestown is. The annual parade is a great way to end another successful year in downtown and the surrounding region.
