On Dec. 4, the Jamestown Chapter of Credit Unions held its annual Toys for Kids dinner at the Celoron Legion. Staff and board members from area credit unions came together to present toys that they had received from members and/or purchased themselves to give to two local charities. The credit unions represented were: AffinityOne, Greater Chautauqua, Inner Lakes, Jamestown Area Community, Jamestown Post Office Employees and Southern Chautauqua.
Travis Heiser, CEO of the Inner Lakes Federal Credit Union and president of the Jamestown Chapter of Credit Unions, led the event.
"We see this annual get-together and function as an example of one of the credit union movements greatest values - of people helping people," Heiser said. "I know these toys are obtained a number of ways: some credit unions collect toys from their members, some use the funds donated from members, and some simply purchase them themselves. But whatever the method, we see a great example of what we can do when we work together. So I would like to say 'thank you' to all of you."

The toys - which numbered in the thousands - were donated to Love INC (Jamestown) and the Union Relief Association (Westfield). Chris Kibbe spoke on behalf of Love INC, and the Union Relief Association was represented by Gloria Hayes.
"This event is wonderful," Hayes said. "The toy donations from these area credit unions allow us to make Christmas so much happier for those who need it. I thank them all very much."
Also joining the event was Assemblyman Andrew Goodell and Jacqueline Chiarot, Congressman Tom Reed's regional director.
