Roberta R. "Bobbie" Handy, 69, of 538 Route 394, Kennedy, N.Y., formerly of Warren, Pa. and Tidioute, Pa., passed away at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her home, in the loving arms of her children.
She was born Dec. 10, 1944, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of Blanche Hayes Hayes and the late Willis A. Hayes Sr.
Before her retirement, she was a nurse's aide at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, Pa., for 23 years. She will be remembered as a very caring aide who loved her job.
She was a member of the Kennedy United Methodist Church and the Sheffield Senior Center, Sheffield, Pa. She also was a volunteer at the Better Life Nutrition Center in Falconer, N.Y. Bobbie loved to spend time playing cards and kismet with her family.
Surviving are her mother, Blanche Hayes of Sheffield, Pa.; two daughters: Stephanie (Ted) Clark of Kennedy, N.Y., and Ginger (Hodges) Colburn of Perrysburg, N.Y.; two sons: Toby Hodges and Frank (Molly) Hodges, both of Chandlers Valley, Pa.; four stepdaughters: Audene Barrett and Jolleen Handy, both of Warren, Pa., Colleen Johnson of Tidioute, Pa., and Dorothy Botko of Youngsville, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two sisters; Lucy (Jim) Rudolph of Sheffield, Pa., and Tammy (Richard) Colburn of Warren, Pa.; three brothers: Willis (Darla) Hayes Jr. of Jamestown, N.Y., William McKendree of Warren, Pa., and Joseph Hayes of Land of the Lakes, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father; and her husband, John Walter Handy, who died Nov. 20, 2006.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, in the Kennedy United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy, pastor will officiate.
Friends will be received from 58 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, in the Lind Funeral Home.
