Sally D. Smith, 61, of Pine Street, Dunkirk, N.Y., formerly of Stockton, N.Y., passed away Wednesday Dec. 11, 2013, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa., with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Westfield, N.Y., on Dec. 4, 1952, the daughter of Helen (Houser) Mekus of Dunkirk and the late Paul Best.
Sally was a resident of Stockton for 20 years and had resided in Dunkirk for the past nine years. She had worked as a hotel manager for Best Western/Comfort Inn of Dunkirk, N.Y.

Sally enjoyed photography, going to church and praying, and was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Stockton Community Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Stanley V. Smith Jr., whom she married Nov. 28, 1970; her daughter, Tammy (Donald) TeCulver of Stockton, N.Y., her son, Stanley V. Smith III of Dunkirk, N.Y.; grandchildren: Chelsey Boardman, Shannon Boardman and Quinton Smith, all of Stockton, N.Y.; her sisters and brother: Judy Gibbs of Chautauqua, N.Y., William Best of Gerry, N.Y., Pauletta Abbey of Westfield, N.Y., Marlene Post of Mayville, N.Y., Cindy Raynor of Florida, and Trudy Gambino of Mayville, N.Y.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Milton D. Mekus.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Stockton Community Church. The Rev. Richard Hamilton will officiate.
Interment will be in the Stockton Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 and from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15.
