In celebration of the holidays, the Cattaraugus Community Choir will perform a program of nine traditional Christmas anthems, interspersed with other festive music.
The performance will start at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School Theatre.
Elaine Ingersoll, founder and 25-year director of the choir, recently stepped down from that post, picking as her successor Mike Trenchard, a Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School vocal music instructor who had been singing with the choir for several years. Thanks to his acceptance of this new responsibility, the choir sings on, offering up its 26th consecutive year of seasonal entertainment to the community.
The organization is made up of an eclectic mix of local residents, young and old, who simply love to sing. This year, Ingersoll says she plans to enjoy the concert in a whole new way - as a member of the choir. Accompanist's duties will be shared by Betty Van Etten and Audrey Maguda.
As always, the public is welcome to attend.
