A motorcycle rider who fled the scene of a vehicle collision last month turned himself into police Tuesday.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, Matthew J. Haskins, 32, of Stockton felt compelled to turn himself in after police informed his girlfriend and her father that "giving up" would reduce the number of charges against him.
Haskins' charges were reduced from seven to three - unlicensed operator, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with no insurance.
On Nov. 18, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Sarah Storer, 23, was traveling northwest on Falconer Street, near the intersection of Weeks Street, when her Dodge Neon struck Haskins' motorcycle, police said.
Storer's Dodge Neon sustained minor damage to the driver's side of the vehicle. Haskins' motorcycle, a Harley-Davidson, sustained heavy damage to its front and was towed away.
No injuries were reported.
