Evelyn S. Parsons, 83, of 132 Aldren Ave., formerly of 51 Roland Road, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at WCA Hospital.
She was the widow of C. Robert "Bob" Parsons, whom she married June 26, 1954, and who died Aug. 11, 2009.
Evelyn was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Alda, Neb., the daughter of the late Floyd and Blanche Balmat Steele.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper by the former Bailey's Floral Supply and later Anderson's Floral Supply, both in Jamestown.
Evelyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving are three children: Debra (Abe Pagan) Steele of Murrieta, Calif., Jan (Tim) Mara of Lakewood, N.Y., and Greg (Polly) Parsons of Springfield, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Arika Steel of Missoula, Mont., Andrew Coy of Okinawa, Japan, Matthew Choy of Washington, D.C., Jack Parsons and Jenny Parsons, both of Springfield, Ill., Dr. Joshua (Mandi) Sawlaw of Peoria, Ill., and Betsy Sawlaw of Monticello, Ill.; two greatgrandchildren: Forrest Sawlaw and Ava Wisehart; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Aiken; and three brothers: Robert, Floyd and Don Steele.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt and the Rev. Robert J. Kasting will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 13 p.m. in the funeral home Friday.
