Dr. Therold "Terry" Lindquist Jr. died at home in Alabama, on Dec. 2, 2013. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Lindquist was born in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Jeannette Dahl Lindquist and Therold Lindquist Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phillip, who died as a child.
He is survived by his wife, Kristina; two daughters: Teril, Kayla; and grandson, Hunter. Also surviving are stepsons: Joseph and Stanton; and daughterinlaw, Rixely.
Mr. Lindquist graduated from Falconer High School in 1949. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology, his Master of Fine Arts from Ohio University, and his Ph. D. in education from Walden University. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
Terry Lindquist taught photography for more than 35 years, first at the University of Miami and then at SUNY Fredonia from 1966 to 2002. His photographic art was exhibited in more than 60 shows across the country and he continued to photograph and exhibit new work through 2011. His photographs were printed in numerous national publications and in published books. He will be remembered by hundreds of photography students and teaching colleagues, many of whom kept in touch and visited him in Alabama.
Terry Lindquist will also be remembered by many friends for his love of auctions. He held fond memories of friends made over breakfast at the Firehouse Deli, and during summer afternoons at the Dunkirk Marina.
Terry wanted no formal funeral ceremony, only that his friends and family remember him, each in their own way. His ashes will be interred in Falconer during a private gathering at a later time.
