A lake effect snow warning will be in effect for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo. The warning runs through 4 a.m. Thursday for both counties.
A lake effect snow watch had previously been in effect. The Weather Service predicts accumulations of 3 to 5 inches Tuesday night, 3 to 5 inches Wednesday and 2 to 4 inches Wednesday night - leading to totals of 8 to 14 inches.
Gusts could reach 40 mph, producing blowing and drifting snow, the Weather Service reports. Rapid changes in road conditions and visibility are expected during the storm.
