ELLICOTT - Alcohol is believed to have been involved when a driver sustained minor head injuries Wednesday after crashing his pickup truck into a utility pole.
According to the Ellicott Police Department, Daniel C. Oakes, 45, of Ellington, was traveling on Allen Street at approximately 3:30 a.m., when he veered off the right-hand side of the road and crashed into a utility pole near Dow Street.
Upon discovering Oakes' vehicle, patrols sent him to WCA Hospital for minor head injuries.
Oakes was charged with failure to maintain lane, driving while intoxicated per se, felony DWI and refusing a breath test. He will appear in Ellicott Court at a later date.
