JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
Edwin Velazquez, 53, of Jamestown was charged Wednesday with petit larceny. At approximately 4 p.m., store employees allegedly observed Velazquez leaving Rite Aid, 50 S. Main St., without paying for merchandise. Velazquez attempted to flee the area but was located a short distance away by officers. Velazquez was transported to the city jail without incident.
Randy A. Haskins, 21, of Sinclairville was charged Wednesday with second-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family offense and second-degree criminal impersonation. At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Haskins' vehicle at the intersection of Bowen and Price streets. During the stop, Haskins allegedly provided a false name to police. After officers determined Haskins' true identity, they found a valid order of protection for Haskins to stay away from another occupant in the vehicle, police said. Haskins was charged with aggravated family offense for a previous domestic violence conviction. Haskins was transported to the city jail without incident.
Luis A. Garcia, 41, of Jamestown was charged Thursday with second-degree criminal contempt. At approximately 3:45 a.m., officers responded to 304 W. Eighth St. for the report of an intoxicated male that was violating an order of protection. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that the male subject was on her porch and was allegedly yelling obscenities at her. Garcia was located in a snow bank behind the house. Garcia was transported to Jamestown City Jail where he is pending arraignment.
Melinda J. McQuiggan, 50, of Blasdell was charged Thursday with improper right turn intersection, moving from lane unsafely, and two misdemeanors - driving while intoxicated and driving with .08 percent of 1 percent or more of alcohol. At approximately 1:34 a.m., officers observed a vehicle failing to keep right during a right turn off Foote Avenue onto Allen Street. The vehicle was also observed moving unsafely on the Arterial at South Main Street and stopped. McQuiggan was found to be intoxicated and arrested. McQuiggan will be arraigned in the Jamestown City Court.
Alana R. Stafford, 19, of Jamestown was charged Wednesday with petit larceny. Police responded to a call from Kmart that complained of shoplifting. Stafford was charged after allegedly having taken various items from the store, police said. Stafford was issued an appearance ticket to appear in court at a later date.
PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE
Thomas Mann, 22, of Warren, Pa., Carl Samuelson, 60, of Ashville, and Brian Gulnac, 33, of Warren, Pa., were involved in a motor vehicle accident Wednesday. At approximately 4:38 p.m., Mann, who was traveling southbound on state Route 62, attempted to make a left turn onto Akeley Road. Mann's vehicle turned into the path of Samuelson's vehicle, which was traveling northbound on state Route 62, police said. Samuelson's vehicle struck Mann's vehicle causing it to spin into the front end of Gulnac's vehicle, which was stopped at the stop sign on Akeley Road. No injuries were reported. The operator will be cited for two traffic violations, police said.
Timothy J. Mullen, 23, of Warren, Pa. was charged Nov. 6 with possession of marijuana, driving while intoxicated and other violations. Following a traffic stop, Mullen was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Gisele Carona, 36, of Jamestown was charged Thursday of two counts of second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief. At approximately 11:51 a.m., Carona and another female became disorderly with Wal-Mart employees. After being told to leave, Carona allegedly punched an employee in the face, scratched her face and pulled on her arm, police said. The employee sustained a torn sweater and scratched eyeglass lenses, police said. Another employee was allegedly pushed and punched by Carona. Carona left the store and was located at home by police. She was taken into custody and will appear in court on Nov. 19.
