The Jamestown Area YMCAs are geared up to help area residents and business employees stay on track with regards to their health this holiday season with the ninth annual Zero Gain Campaign.
Participants in the Zero Gain Campaign weigh in before Thanksgiving from Nov. 24-27 and weigh out after New Year's from Jan. 1-4 at either the Jamestown or Lakewood YMCAs or at their workplace. The cost to participate is just $5.
Those who maintain their starting weight or lose pounds through the holidays will win a prize. Participants also receive three guest passes to the YMCA to help them stay on target during the campaign.
"Most Americans engage in over indulgent eating behaviors from Halloween through New Years and sometimes beyond," said Meg Pickard, wellness director. "When that happens, we set ourselves up for poor eating patterns, ill health, and weight gain during the holidays."
You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate; however, a special YMCA Zero Gain membership is available for the duration of the Zero Gain Campaign for the low cost of $45. This special membership provides access to both the Jamestown and Lakewood YMCAs and includes a vast array of free group exercise classes including Zumba, yoga, indoor cycling, water exercise and much more.
For more information, please contact Pickard at the Jamestown YMCA at 664-2802, ext. 231, or Donna Garvey at the Lakewood YMCA at 763-0303 or you may pick up a registration form at either YMCA location. Information regarding this and other YMCA offerings is also available at www.jamestownymca.org.
