Elizabeth H. "Betty" Schuyler, 96, formerly of W.J. Blvd, Jamestown passed away Saturday (Oct. 26, 2013) in Our Lady of Peace, Lewiston, N.Y.
An area resident most of her life she was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Punxsutawney, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Dominick and Carmelo Gercitano Gatto.
Betty attended Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by M.R.C, National Worsted Mills and later by the City of Jamestown Transportation as a bus driver for 43 years retiring in 1983.
Betty was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Nancy (LeRoy) Paine of Cherry Creek and Carmella "Bootsie" (Joseph) Pusateri of Lewis-ton, N.Y.; seven grandchildren: Ronald Whitehill of Jamestown, Kathy (Gregg) Johnson of Jamestown, David (Kelly) Whitehill of Falconer, Lisa (Mark) Winslow of Youngstown, N.Y., Joey (Eileen) Pusateri of Grand Island, Denise (James) Schimek of Cherry Creek, Christina (Mike) Magee of Vancouver, Wash.; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Josephine "Pepper" Conti of Falconer.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Whitehill; three brothers: Joseph, Anthony and Frank Gatto; and two sisters: Jennie DiVincenzo, Mary Madonia; three brother-in-laws: Samuel Conti, Anthony DiVencenzo, Ralph Madonia; two sister-in-laws: Sarah Gatto and Frances Gatto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, Falconer. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek will be celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
