The Rev. Dr. Glenn C. Tompkins, 86, of Walling, Tenn., passed on to his eternal home Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at his residence.
The Rev. Tompkins was born in Schenectady, N.Y., on Jan. 12, 1927, the son of the late William and Alida (Osterhaudt) Tompkins. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving family members include: three daughter: Nancy (David) Swanson of Walling, Ruth Wood of Lewisberry, Pa., and Joanne Tompkins of Gambia, West Africa; a son, Robert (Bonnie) Tompkins of Mexico; nine grandchildren: Kevin (Debra) Swanson, Dr. Pamela (David) Sanders, Melanie (Stephen) Gooch, Benjamin (Chelsie) Swanson, Will Tompkins, Dan Tompkins, Holly Tompkins, Erin Centi and Ryan Centi; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, the Rev. Tompkins was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mrs. Helen Tompkins; a son, Richard Tompkins; and a sister, Leila Tompkins.
The funeral will be held today in Oak Lawn Funeral Home, Sparta, Tenn.
