Arnold C. Holmberg, 82, of Falconer, passed away Sunday (Oct. 20, 2013), in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident, he was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Jamestown, the son of the late Carl and Gerda Nordquist Holmberg.
Arnold was a graduate of Falconer High School and Morrisville College earning an associate degree in agronomy. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Ellison Bronze as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Second Century Club of the American Red Cross for blood donation and attended Levant Wesleyan Church. Arnold was a member of the morning exercise group called the Morning Maniacs, and was an avid golfer having been a member of Cardinal Hill Golf Club. He enjoyed hunting, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and loved a good cup of coffee.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine M. Huckelbery Holmberg, whom he married June 25, 1988, in Levant Wesleyan Church; five children: Rory (Dina) Holmberg of Jamestown, Christine (Wayne) Oste of Jamestown, Scott (Kimann) Holmberg of Kennedy, Valerie (Joseph) Stuber of Ohio, and Steve (Lisa) Holmberg of Kennedy; his extended family: Mike (Carol) Steppe of Keuka Park, N.Y., Jon (Melody) Steppe of Fishers, Ind., and Kim Hallberg of Jamestown; 19 grandchildren: Jamie (Sandy) Reynolds, Jodee (Dennis) Hallett, Stephen (Laura) Holmberg, Jennie (David) Feliciano, Jay (Lauren) Oste, Leasen (Matt) Robinson, Jessica Oste, Michael (Samantha) Holmberg, Jacquie (Tony) Stewart, Lindsay (Shawn) Finton, Danielle (Thomas) Kerrigan, Kristen Holmberg, Karl Holmberg, Jillian Holmberg, Leah Steppe, Jasmin Steppe, Tyler Steppe, Zachary Hallberg and Alexis Hallberg; and 17 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beryl Huckelbery Holmberg, who died Jan. 24, 1986; a brother, Larry Holmberg; and a sister, Vanja Seawall.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jon Steppe will officiate. Burial will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 24 p.m. and 79 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
