LOCKPORT - James-town jumped out to a three-goal lead and never looked back as the ninth-seeded Red Raiders (4-12-1) rolled to a 5-1 victory over No. 8 Lockport (7-7, 8-9) in Class AA prequarterfinal boys soccer on Monday.
JHS opened the scoring as Karee Rizzo-Walker found the net, assisted by Mitch Moore, 12:56 into the game.
Ten minutes later, Bugnio Valazquez scored as Moore earned another assist and Jamestown led, 2-0.
Moore then scored an unassisted goal at the 32:09 mark for the 3-0 advantage.
In the second half, Lockport got on the board at 4:27 as Maurice Channer scored an unassisted goal.
However, Alex Lee Yaw sealed the victory with two goals, one at 2:13, assisted by Valazquez, and another with 5:46 left with the assist going to Matt Hoaglund.
Liam Kulakowski and Zach Schupp combined for two saves in earning the win in goal for the Red Raiders, who will travel to No. 1 Clarence in the quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
