Edward L. "Bud" Nelson, 87, formerly of 39 Woodlawn Ave., Lakewood, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was the husband of Viola (Nelson) Nelson, whom he married Dec. 20, 1945.
A lifelong area resident, he was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Jamestown, a son of the late Gustaf Adolph and Clara Jane Smith Nelson.

Bud served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46 with duty aboard the USS Guadalcanal.
He was employed by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Co. for many years, retiring as tool engineer manager.
Bud was a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion. He enjoyed baseball and loved golfing.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters: Barbara (Jim) Constantino of Ashville and Linda Nelson of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Melissa (David) Gniewecki of Lakewood, Amy Constantino of Panama, Michael (Alexandra) Constantino of Getzville, N.Y., Heather (Josh) Pickup of Jamestown, and Travis Loewel of Jamestown; four great-grandchildren: Lauren Constantino, Nolan Pickup, Natalie Pickup and Colton Loewel; three sisters: Gloria Nelson of Jamestown, Donna Carlson of East Hampton, Conn., and Sandra Triscari of Aurora, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Patricia "Twig" Nelson of Port Charlotte, Fla. and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Sarah Nelson of Lakewood.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Nelson; and a sister, Martha Loucks.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Graveside military honors will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery immediately following the visitation Monday.
