Chuck Nazzaro has announced his candidacy for re-election to a fourth term on the Chautauqua County Legislature representing District 9, formerly District 16, which mostly comprises the south side of Jamestown. He currently serves as ranking member of the Audit & Control Committee. Nazzaro has been endorsed by the Democratic and Independence parties.
Nazzaro chaired a special task force formed to research the Chautauqua County Home's operations and has consistently supported its sale. Nazzaro indicated that he supports the consolidation of government services, regionalization, neighborhood revitalization and in reducing property taxes. Commenting on the future of Chautauqua County, Nazzaro said, "We must initiate every cost-effective measure possible to reduce the cost of county government, yet maintain the highest level of essential services. We must also focus on creating new jobs that pay above average wages," Nazzaro continued. "Good-paying jobs are critical to our future. The county should continue to offer financial incentives to businesses that wish to either expand or relocate to Chautauqua County. We must also have 'shovel-ready' sites available for new development, which will not only create jobs but also, expand our tax base."
Nazzaro served on the Jamestown City Council for three terms, including one term as the Chair of the Finance Committee. While serving on City Council, Nazzaro said, "I held the line on taxes, improved cash flow, help change a negative fund balance into a positive one, and worked with Chautauqua County in developing inter-municipal agreements."
Nazzaro is a lifelong resident of Jamestown and a graduate of Jamestown Community College. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Nazzaro is the chief financial officer at WCA Hospital.
