One local artist's design will be the main focus of Tuesday's continuing legal education seminar at The Robert H. Jackson Center.
In honor of the seminar's theme, "Scales of Justice," The Resource Center hosted a contest among artists in its "Creations" art program to create designs that would best capture that theme. Artists submitted their work and TRC employees and individuals who receive services from the agency voted for their favorite.
The winning design was created by Roque Cruz and will be printed on a T-shirt and distributed at the seminar. The T-shirts are being printed by Support Enterprises Inc., and The Resource Center is covering the cost of printing the shirts and donating them to the seminar.
Randy Sweeney, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation executive director; Roque Cruz, artist; Kristen Paduano McNitt, The Resource Center art instructor; and Deb Pacos, Robert H. Jackson Center development coordinator; pose with Cruz’s winning design.
"Scales of Justice" will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature panelists Dennis Drew, founding member and keyboard player for the alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs, and Bobby Militello, world-renowned saxophonist and jazz musician. Theresa Quinn, an associate with Magavern Magavern Grimm LLP, will moderate. A luncheon will follow with Militello serving as the guest speaker.
The seminar and luncheon are free of charge. Seating is limited, so advance registration is required. The deadline for registration has been extended to Friday. To register, contact Mary Parsons, CLE administrator, Phillips Lytle LLP at 847-5461.
