VILLENOVA - A vehicle became fully engulfed in flames Sunday around 5:20 a.m., after Valerie A. Roach, 28, of Silver Creek veered off of Route 83 in the town of Villenova.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident with a passenger possibly entrapped.
Upon arrival, Officer Stephen Romanik attempted to put the blaze out with a fire extinguisher. He was then assisted by Ray Austin of South Dayton, who works for Alstar Emergency Medical Services and was on his way home from work. Both men broke the vehicle's windows and extricated Roach shortly before the entire vehicle was on fire.
