Hundreds Participate In Visit The Farm Day

October 11, 2013
The Post-Journal

DEWITTVILLE - A rainy day still brought more than 525 visitors to a dairy farm on Sept. 21 to learn more about agriculture in Chautauqua County. The Visit the Farm Day, held by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County and hosted by Country Ayre Farms, LLC was deemed a success despite the poor weather conditions. The farm is owned by Richard and Joan Kimball, Seth Kimball, and Mike and Heather Woodis and family and is located on Meadows Road in Dewittville at the site of the historical "County Farm." Visitors enjoyed activities and educational displays about agriculture prior to and after a 40-minute guided walking tour where they could pet baby calves, learn about the caring for and milking of cows, and how the soils and nutrients are managed on the 1,375-acre farm.
