FALCONER - On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Falconer Fire Department will be hosting an open house in honor of Fire Safety Week.
Keeping up with the theme of kitchen safety, the fire department will be displaying pamphlets, fire hats and posters for the public to view said Tammy Yager, the department's fire prevention officer. Using the kitchen inside of the fire hall, fire safety instructions will be given around the stove and the sink. The fire hall will also be handing out a limited number of smoke alarms donated by Chautauqua County, and Sparky the Fire Dog will be handing out coupons.
There will be things for the children to do as well. A table of crafts will be set up and run by the junior firefighters. There will be different stations, and tours of the fire hall will be given. Children and adults alike will be allowed to put on firemen gear and get into the truck as they learn about being a firefighter.
The Falconer Fire Department is located on 115 Davis St., and firefighters ask residents who attend to bring nonperishable items, which will be distributed to local food cupboards.
