DUNKIRK - Undefeated Southwestern ( 10-0, 11-0-2) had a difficult time with Dunkirk (1-7, 1-9-1) before coming up with a hard-earned 1-0 victory on Saturday in the West Division boys soccer.
Lucas Przygodzki recorded his first varsity shutout by making only one save for the Trojans.
The game was scoreless until 74:36 of the second half when sophomore Nick Cooper found the range from senior Tristan Desnerck.
Goalie Tyler Kubasik played very well for Dunkirk by stopping 12 shots.
LADY TROJANS PREVAIL
DUNKIRK - Nicole Cooper needed just 20 seconds to score from Emily Wuebbolt and Southwestern (4-6) went on to post a 4-1 victory over Dunkirk in the West Division girls soccer on Saturday.
After the quick goal by Cooper, her sixth of the season, Cassie Butler scored twice at 30 minutes from Kristy Baggiano and unassisted at 39 minutes for a 3-0 margin in the first half.
A.J. Pencek of Dunkirk broke up Britta Johnson's shutout by scoring an unassisted goal at seven minutes of the second half.
Meghan Siperek tallied her first goal of the year from Kate Johnson with three minutes left to close out the scoring for Southwestern.
Johnson made three saves in the Southwestern goal and Aimee Green was busy with 16 saves for Dunkirk.
