Erik Olson and Gage Bird combined talents for the Jamestown Community College's men soccer team (3-2-2, 7-4-2) in a one-goal non-league victory in the NJCAA action on Wednesday afternoon.
Olson deflected a pass from Bird off the gloved hand of goalie Logan Mears and into the net for his second goal of the year at 12 minutes of the second half to give the Jayhawks a 2-1 win over Division 1 Mercyhurst-North East (7-3).
JCC got on the scoreboard first when Kisum Peters scored his second goal of the season on a breakaway after receiving a pass from Jorge Duron at 20 minutes of the first half.

The score stayed that way until at 10 minutes of the second half when Mercyhurst-North East tied it up at 1-1 on a goal by Dean Shouser from Joshua Lawrence.
That set the stage for Olson's game-winning tally.
Tyler Dykstra had a good day by making nine saves for JCC while Mears made five saves for Mercyhurst-North East.
Next action for JCC is 1 p.m. Saturday when nationally ranked Tompkins- Cortland CC comes to town.
JCC WOMEN SHINE
''We dominated throughout and got a very satisfying victory,'' said coach Dana Shelters after Jamestown Community College's women's soccer team (3-2, 5-5) blanked Division 1 Mercyhurst-North East, 2-0.
Hailey Sigular got her first shutout as the Jayhawks recorded the home victory over Mercyhurst-North East (5-4).
Kylie Wilson, coming off a five-goal effort, recorded her ninth goal of the season from Elizabeth Roosa at 32 minutes as JCC made it 1-0 in the opening half.
Sam Mann stole the ball and blasted home a shot at 13 minutes to give the Jayhawks a 2-0 lead in the second half. It was the 11th goal for Mann, who is the team leader in goals.
Olivia Shear made 13 saves for Mercyhurst-North East.
JCC entertains Tompkins-Cortland CC at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
