Calvin Wheaton, 74, of the town of Ellery, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, in his home.
He was born April 11, 1939, in Lackawanna, N.Y., the son of the late Noble and Mildred DeNee Wheaton.
He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Airborne from 1958-60, and prior to retirement worked for many years at SKF Bearings. Calvin enjoyed hunting and fishing, and will be missed by his dog, Rosie.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, June Childs Wheaton; a son, Master Sgt. Ryan Wheaton USAF and his wife, Ann-Marie of Rapid City, S.D.; a daughter, Renee McMurtrey and her husband, Sean of Fountain, Colo.; two grandsons: Tyler Wheaton and Cody Hillerby; one granddaughter, Caylie Hillerby; one grandchild on the way; his Godchildren, Charlie, Loren, Chad, and Kimmy; two brothers: Robert Wheaton of Gowanda, N.Y.; Charles (Carol) Wheaton of East Otto, N.Y.; two sisters, Marcella Capron of Little Valley, N.Y., and Jeannette (Willis) Allen of Gowanda; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Rich and Jerry.
A special thank you to Calvin's brother-in-law, Irv, for everything he has done.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Shirley Girt, Margaret Eicher and Mary Counter; and a brother, John "Jack" Wheaton.
There will be no funeral service or visitation observed.
