A number of personnel items dominated the make-up of Tuesday's meeting of the Southwestern Central School District Board of Education.
In a relatively light agenda, of which only a superintendent's report and consideration of addendum were also included, the personnel items featured only two resignations and numerous appointments.
A motion for the retirement of Raymond Pienta from his position as a social studies teacher, after 29 years of service, was carried and will be effective June 30, 2014. The resignation of Daryl Damcott as assistant JV boys volleyball coach was also carried, effective Wednesday.
Appointments, upon recommendation of the superintendent, included: Katherine Barreto as teacher aide in the teacher aide department at six hours per day, effective Thursday; Johneen Hoose as football cheerleading coach for the 2013-14 school year; Jon Pearson as fall driver education instructor, effective from Monday through Nov. 15; Michelle Cresanti and Anne Beck as co-advisers for the class of 2016, and Tami McKotch as co-adviser for the class of 2017; Wendy Rodgers as an instructional substitute for the 2013-14 school year, effective Wednesday; and Leslie Dole and Michelle Swanson and substitute teacher aides for the 2013-14 school year.
Also approved were a number of elementary school volunteers, including: Kayla Berry, Cindy Calzone, Elizabeth Claus, Arthur Harrington, Jennifer Harrington, Cheyenne Hodges, Norman Irion, Rhonda Johnson, Florella Martin and Lauren Slater.
