LILY DALE David L. Goodworth, 54, of Lily Dale has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison and 10 years post-release supervision for first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.
On Monday, David Foley, county district attorney, announced Goodworth's sentence for the class B felony. In October 2012, state police charged Goodworth after investigating allegations that he had inappropriate sexual contact with children.
Foley said he was pleased with the outcome, stating that not only does this punish Goodworth for these heinous acts, but sends a message to sex offenders that they can expect to receive significant time for similar crimes.
''I am glad to see that the new sentencing guidelines for sex offenders, which was passed in 2007, is finally taking effect and we're seeing an increase in the length of prison terms,'' Foley stated in a news release.
Foley expressed his appreciation to investigator Ed Kalfas of the State Police Department; Laurie Beckerink, assistant district attorney; Chautauqua County Child Advocacy Program; and to the victims and victims' family for their support and strength.
