The Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers Inc. Taft Center in Jamestown was provided with a special treat and a surprise. The family of Sharon Valvo, who attends the program, planned a surprise party for her at the Taft Center to celebrate her 74th birthday. The celebration included musical entertainment by Executive Director Frank Bercik with a roomful of friends, staff and family singing "Happy Birthday." Sharon's family provided refreshments that included a marble sheet cake for all to enjoy. Sharon was very surprised, and it was a great time for her as well as for all her friends at the Taft Center.
"The agency is grateful to families in the community who are very thankful and help support our mission of helping older adults remain at home and independent. Many families attend our special events and the family of Sharon Valvo has been especially appreciative of our services for Sharon. Over the years, they have helped support many activities and events we have. They have made numerous donations that are specifically for the participants and the programming that takes place at the Taft Center. This has enabled us to add a little more fun and quality in the lives of the participants who attend our program," said Karen Lucks, associate director.
