Kyle Richardson recorded his third shutout of season Friday as Maple Grove beat Dunkirk, 4-0, to raise the Red Dragons' overall record to 6-1 in West Division boys soccer action.
David Meekins began the scoring with an unassisted tally at 21 minutes. Brandon Greiner scored at 24 minutes on an assist by Riley Beaton and Nick Swanson tallied the third goal at 30 minutes on assist by Andy Farnham for a 3-0 first half edge.
Greiner added his second goal at 63 minutes of the second half assisted by Greg Nelson.
FALCONER WINS IN OT
MAYVILLE - Chautauqua Lake jumped into the lead early, but Falconer battled back with three unanswered goals, posting a 3-2 overtime win.
The Thunderbirds (0-3, 1-4) scored first at the 29-minute mark in the first half as Abdullah Khalil tallied, assisted by Zach Weatherlow, and two minutes later, Albert Firster had an unassisted goal for the 2-0 lead.
Falconer cut the lead just before the half when Josh Fisher scored off a corner kick, assisted by Andrew Ward, and two minutes into the second half, Drew Beckerink tied the game as Tobi Culpepper assisted. Seven minutes into overtime, Fisher got the game winner as he headed in Ward's corner kick.
Trevor Dykstra recorded the win in goal for Falconer with 15 saves. James Latimer had 16 saves for the Thunderbirds.
CATTARAUGUS - Both defenses shined throughout the non-league battle between Franklinville (2-4) and Cattaraugus Little-Valley (2-5).
Neither team was able to find the net through the first half and most of the second before Gabe Grey knocked in the winning goal for the Timberwolves with 43 seconds left in regulation and the result was a 1-0 victory.
Justin Davison got the assist and Dylan Rhinehart picked up the victory in goal, collecting 12 saves. Jared Finch also had 12 saves for Franklinville.
PINE VALLEY FALLS
WEST VALLEY - Scoring twice in the second half was enough to give West Valley (2-1, 3-2) a 2-1 win over Pine Valley (1-4).
Jaren Johnston tallied an unassisted goal for Pine Valley at 27 minutes of the first half.
Rin Tojo tied it up at 1-1 for West Valley at 33 minutes of the second half and the winning goal came when Pine Valley scored into its own net with seven minutes left.
Both goalies made more than 20 saves with Russell Hayes of Pine Valley having 22 saves and Jon Zimmer of West Valley 20 saves.
FREWSBURG - Frewsburg played host to Falconer and the Lady Golden Falcons posted a come-from-behind 2-1 win.
Frewsburg (3-1, 3-1-1) got on the board first as Karlee Foti found the net at 10:31 of the first half, unassisted, and that score stood until four minutes into the second half when Kelly Keefe helped Falconer (5-0, 6-0-1) tie the game at 1-1. At 20:59, Randi Greene scored the eventual game winner with Keefe earning the assist.
For the winners, Macey Mays collected six saves Libby Hartley had 16 saves for the Bears.
