First Lutheran Church kicked of a multi-generational women's group read Margot Starbuck's book, "Unsqueezed" - a commentary on the paradox of being made in the image of God and living in a media-driven society that promotes physical perfection - in 2011.
Since then, True Sisterhood had continued to grow, with a day retreat, online group page and discussion, partnership with the YWCA's Team Program and a new book club that meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays in the First Lutheran Church Parlors. The group, ranging from women age 15 to adult, to retired; is reading another of Starbuck's books," Permission Granted," which wrestles with "thoughts on living graciously among sinners and saints."
