Shirley C. Brace, 89, of Hultquist Place, formerly of 1118 N. Main St., Jamestown, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 16, 2013), in WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, she was born March 22, 1924, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Gerald C. and Berenice Hoyt Cheney.
She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, and before her retirement was employed by the Sears Roebuck Company working in the credit department for many years.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She en-joyed watching her grand-daughters sporting events and made several trips out of town supporting her team. She also enjoyed going to flea markets, garage sales and antique auctions.
She was a member of the Antique Study Club and the West Ellicott Senior Ci-tizens.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy A. (Mike) Johnston and a son, Kevin H. Brace both of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Brittany Ann Brace, a student at the State College of Brockport; a stepgranddaughter, Juli Bird of Chandler, Ariz.; two step great-grandchildren: Ella and Rachel Bird; a sis-ter, Joyce Bracey of James-town; and a brother-in-law, Roger Anderson of Lake-wood.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Brace, whom she married March 1, 1947, and who died April 19, 2003; and a sister, Barbara C. Anderson, who died March 19, 2009.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick LaDue, pastor of the Kidder Memorial Unit-ed Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
