STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Tri-City had its back to the wall, but came up with a 5-4 win in the New York-Pennsylvania League championship to tie the series at 1-1 and set up the deciding game at 7:05 p.m. today.
Conrad Gregor gave Tri-City a 1-0 lead in the second inning by blasting a solo home run over the center field fence at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Then, the ValleyCats tallied four times in the sixth inning to take a 5-0 lead. Ronnie Mitchell hit a two-run double, and Jon Kemmer and Gregor added RBI singles. State College pushed across four runs in its half of the sixth to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Dave Washington and Luis Perez had RBI singles, Carson Kelly hit a sacrifice fly and another run scored on an error for State College. There was no more scoring with Gonzalo Sanudo getting his third save in the playoffs by working the final two innings for Tri-City.
