A Jamestown man is in custody following a hit and run that took place in Lakewood on Friday.
Victor J. Cameron, 38, was arraigned in the town of Busti Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail without bail Wednesday morning.
According to police reports, Cameron allegedly was the operator of the motor vehicle involved in a hit and run at approximately 5 p.m. on Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood, adjacent to the Wal-Mart parking lot.

At the time of the incident, the Lakewood Fire Department responded to a report of a head-on collision involving two cars with serious injuries. Upon arrival, officers were notified that the driver of a Nissan Maxima, now identified as Cameron, allegedly fled on foot. Officers from four different departments searched for the driver, but were initially unsuccessful in their efforts.
On Tuesday, the Lakewood-Busti Police Department received several tips in regard to Cameron, leading police to his whereabouts. Cameron was charged with first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to yield the right of way.
Cameron is due back in court Oct. 2.
