Jamestown Community College women's soccer coach Dana Shelters knew the early portion of the 2013 season would be a challenge for his Lady Jayhawks.
Despite dropping to 0-3 for the season, JCC gave Alfred State, which is now a four-year college, all it could handle in the second half but found themselves on the losing end, 6-3, in non-conference action on Friday.
Alfred State led 3-0 at the end of the first half, but the Lady Jayhawks came out firing in the second as Sam Mann found the net off an assist from Elizabeth Roose just 13 seconds in. Four minutes later, Kirsten Green scored for JCC on an assist from Mann, cutting the lead to 3-2.
Alfred State regained its footing and added three more goals before Kylie Wilson scored her first goal of the season for JCC to make it 6-3. Janelle Jasinski made 10 saves for JCC.
