KIANTONE - Eugene R. Heath, 80, of 1252 Norby Road, died Saturday (Aug. 31, 2013) at his home.
He was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Jamestown, the son of Ralph E. and Nancy C. Triscari Heath.
Gene was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea during the Korean conflict. He had done custom combining for 70 years and before retiring in 1995, he had been employed at Red Star Express.
He was a life member of the Kiantone Fire Dept. where he had been President and secretary, life member of the VFW, Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion, Frewsburg, color guard, War Vets, had served seven terms as assessor and 10 terms as council-man for the town of Kiantone starting in 1963. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling, and working outdoors.
Gene is survived by his wife, Patricia Fordham Heath whom he married July 6, 1957, three children: Michael E. (Patrice) Heath of Jamestown, Steven R. (Stephanie) Heath of Glen Allen, Va., Cynthia A. (Allen) Peterson of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Jennifer L. (Billy) Eschenbach of Sherman, Chelsea A. Peterson of Glen Allen, Virginia, Bret M. Heath, Dalton A., and Bryce S. Peterson of James-town; four step grandchildren: Stephanie Armstrong, Danielle Nelson, Adam and Sydney Neubauer, two great-grandchildren: Lexus and Jasper Eschenbach of Sherman, a brother: Richard A. Heath of Gerry, three aunts: Nellie and Marian Cala, and Jaye La Barbara, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Susan K. Heath.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory oratory, Saint James Church, Frewsburg by the Rev. Darrell Duffy. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
