Jamestown Elks Lodge 263 has issued a challenge to all area fraternal lodges and military veterans posts to volunteer once a month at St. Susan Center in Jamestown.
"We are proud to make a new Elks tradition of volunteering one weekend day a month at St. Susan's," said Walt Gaczewski, exalted ruler of the lodge. "We are challenging other organizations and individuals to do the same."
Gaczewski; Paul Hill, leading knight; and his wife Jenn and member Dave Riotto helped serve and clean up on July 7.
The soup kitchen needs volunteers to assist with serving and clean up on weekends. St. Susan's serves between 350 and 500 meals a day to anyone in need.
With the recent closing of the Joint Neighborhood Project, St. Susan's serves more people than ever.
Volunteers can contact Woody Howland at 664-2253, ext. 2.
