Glenn A. Conklin, 83, of Chestnut Street, Salamanca, N.Y., formerly of Lincoln Avenue, Salamanca, N.Y., died Friday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2013, at Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y., following a short illness.
Born Feb. 4, 1930, in Tidioute, Pa., he was the son of the late Glenn and Grace Bowles Conklin.
He had been a self-employed timber con-tractor and had worked at Empire Woods Bat Mill for many years.
Glenn was a member of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.
He enjoyed coin collecting and watching NASCAR racing and football.
Surviving are: two daughters: Lisa McDonald of Falconer, N.Y., and Sheila (Scott) Nations of Imperial, Mo.; a son, Christopher Conklin of Jamestown, N.Y.; their mother, Barbara Daniels Conklin of Falconer, N.Y.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clair (Betty) Conklin of Salamanca, N.Y., Wayne (Kathryn) Conklin of Salamanca, N.Y., and Norman (Sally) Conklin of Spring Creek, Pa; four sisters: Lucy Kennedy of Plano, Texas, Marie (Ron) Selig of Phoenix, Ariz., Joyce Beals of Florida, and Donna (Doug) Juhola of Littleton, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Glenn Conklin III; two sisters: Mildred Conklin, Delores Lindsay; and two brothers: Marshall Conklin, Roy Conklin.
There will be no visitation or services.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, N.Y.
